Temper Tantrum

I have been missing... John was away for work for a week, which I don't particularly care to advertise. Then he came home for like a week or two and there was the Japanese earthquake/tsunami combo, and the ensuing nuclear issues.

A couple of days after the reactors started being a problem, John was notified by work that he would most likely be going to Japan with his team at work to help with some of the radiation relief-ish. The military paid for the thing he made and they wanted to send it over.. The thing was still being tested, so the team would all have to go with it. Okay whatever- it is cool that he gets to see something he made/worked on be used in real life vs just out on testing fields.

Well.. wait. We have had a vacation (cruise) scheduled for April 2-9 for about a year now. Annnnd they were planning on being in Japan then (for up to a month). Everything was messed around for a week and finally they got orders to proceed as if there were plans to go to Japan- ie go finish testing a couple of things. John left a week ago and then a day or so later he got word that they were scheduled for military transport on Monday. This was an official word and meant that he would definitely not be home for our vacation.

SUCK. We haven't been on a "real" vacation since our honeymoon two years ago and I was wicked looking foward to it. The cruise couldn't be canceled w/o loosing ALL of our money since it was so close to sail date. Not to mention we wouldn't be able to go again until next year anyway.. I was able to get a voucher for John's ticket since he was doing military relief work, but nada for mine. Of course none of my friends could go with me- work trips/teachers/pregnant... My dad was able to go though so we changed his name onto the cruise & got him a plane ticket.

Well.. Monday came & went and everything was still up in the air. He was at his testing site all week doing nothing.. just waiting for military approval and set up to go. It never came. Today... he found out that they aren't going. At. All. WHAT.THE.HECK.

So, now I am going on vacation with my dad (which is fine.. he just is not my husband.. obviously), while John will be at home. And I am throwing a huge temper tantrum. What timing.

(PS by the time this posts, I will be in Puerto Rico boarding the ship w/my dad & John will be home from testing.. nope we didn't even cross paths. So look out crazy stalkers.. the house is NOT empty.)
