The House - Before (Very Before)

The following is scary.. very scary- the state of the house when we first viewed it. Three sons where selling their deceased father's house- all of his belongings were still in there even though he had been dead for over a year. Also, it was pretty obvious that he lived there alone- and let's just say that he was NOT a housekeeper...

Living Room

Living Room Windows
It is kind of dark, but maybe you can see the canoe?
The bed on the left? The random chair & hat in front of the AC?

Coat Closet @ Entry
The coat closet... being used as an actual closet.

Window AC Living Room
AC with a bunch of crap in front of it.

no ceiling light in living room - electrical?
The living room did not have a ceiling light. You can better see the canoe in this picture.

Kitchen/Dining Room

dining w/built in cabinet
Table and a bunch of crap.

back door to outside stairs
A back door to stairs to the outside. Hunting gear?

other side of kitchen
Looking into the kitchen from the dining room.

kitchen cabinets
The left side of the kitchen.

plywood in kitchen
Ahhh a nice plywood floor.

fridge w/plywood under
..and fabulous avocado green fridge- probably original to the house.

unpainted ceiling in kitchen/dining
A ceiling that needs a lot of paint.

kitchen/dining
Looking into the dining room from the kitchen. Notice the random cabinet at the back?

The Office
extra bedroom
...better known as "the hunting room."

The Bathroom
bathroom

Apparently I don't have any pictures of the bedrooms. The front guest bedroom was being used as a master bedroom and the master had nothing in it- well.. some boxes, but no furniture.

Random Upstairs Items
no moulding @ ceiling
In two of the bedrooms, there was a big crack between the wall and the ceiling where moulding had been taken down.

honeycomb in windows
The guest bedroom windows didn't seal or something- there was a buttload of bees and honeycomb in between them.

no heat register
Random floor vent that wasn't covered by anything more than a piece of scrap wood.

register/intake @ top of wall- no cover
Wall vent with no cover.

Cellar (Unfinished)
water under stairs
Oh, hello water!

water
Infinity tools... and lots of water.

Exterior
looking up @ underside of roof eaves
Looking up at the underside of the eaves- lots of cracks where bees/critters were getting in.

"driveway"
But.. that yard!

yard goes to the fence in the way side
Uh! It's all worth it!

boat?
A boat?

So.. as you can see, we have a lot of work ahead of us. Because of the work, we were able to get the house (land really) for a steal.. there is no way we would have ever been able to buy into this area otherwise. Of course.. the seller did a lot of work before we even got to closing, so we are very grateful that he was so understanding.

Next up, I'll show you guys some pictures of the house after closing!
