Shred - Level 2 Day 1

JILLIAN! YOU ARE KILLING ME!

I was actually able to do all of the moves and usually the "advanced" version (yay Natalie!), but I got burnt out SO quickly! I need to get my endurance to grow. My legs were burning! I'm excited though, because I should definitely see an improvement at the end of the 10 days... hopefully I'll be able to make it through the entire circuit without stopping by then..

30 Day Shred- Day 10

Today was my tenth day of shredding. Technically is was day 14, but I didn't shred for a few days last week when I had a headache. I extended level one for a few days to make up for it..

I definitely feel stronger than at the beginning! The first couple of days I was waddling! Now I make it through the workout with minimal wheezing.

Tomorrow I will start Level 2. I'm nervous!

I haven't lost much (if anything) through the first couple of weeks. I'm not sure why. I was tracking my calorie intake and working out. I think if anything, I might have not been eating enough. This week I have upped my intake, and I am hoping to see results. Weigh in is on Friday morning!

Update.

I went to the doctor today. He thought that my Shred-induced headache was due to pulling or straining a muscle/tendon or something in my neck/head connection. He gave me a prescription for a stronger advil to take twice a day for two weeks.

I also got a referral to a sports medicine doctor for my hip. For several (3-4) years now, my left hip freezes/gets stuck/aches when I put pressure on it after sitting for a half hour +. Hopefully this dude can figure out what it is and then rehab it or whatever. I just have to call for the appointment...

Also, in news about my co-worker's parents, they have arrested 4 people in her dad's murder & they are all going to be charged with capital murder. Since they all have priors, they can face the death penalty. They have not yet been charged with the attack on her mom, but they will. Since her mom didn't give a statement to the police (they were able to piece it together without since she doesn't remember), she won't have to testify. Also, all of the people are being tried separately, which makes a better chance to get them all, but will be a lot for my co-worker & her family to go through.

The people that have been charged are gang members, though the police are saying that it was not a gang-related attack, just a burglary. My co-worker's mom is doing much better and will be released this weekend!

MIA

Monday I started doing my daily shred and as I was doing a squat/press, all of a sudden my head started POUNDING.. and it was all behind my left ear. The entire left side of my head hurt, radiating out from behind the ear. Nothing on the right side. It was awful. I had to just lay down all night.

The headache didn't go away overnight- it actually kept waking me up. Tuesday it was still there- not as bad, but still hurt a lot. Same thing yesterday and today!

I know its not a migraine because my mirgaines never come on so quickly, and they are at the top of my head, behind my eyes. This is so weird because it is all on the left side of my head.

I debated going to the urgent care doctor, but I would feel so stupid if they told me "Yup.. you've got a headache" and it was nothing more serious. I've got a regular checkup next week, so I'll ask the doctor then.

So- this has not done well for my shredding. Boo. Tonight I'm going to ride my bike and then Saturday I will start back with the shredding.. I hope.

Anyway- I have a bit of a backlog of posts: Crystal's wedding invitations, a new little series on sustainable living, etc. I will get to them as soon as I start feeling better!

30 Day Shred

So I hopped on the bandwagon and started the 30 Day Shred. I have always loved Jillian on the Biggest Loser and then after reading (and seeing!) so many positive reviews of the Shred, I had to follow. Especially when I saw it for so dang cheap on Amazon.

I ordered the DVD Monday, but since the Shred is currently available for free OnDemand, I started on Monday at level 1. I will do each of the 3 levels for 10 days.

The workout on Monday was intense! It is only 20 minutes long (maybe a little longer including the warmup and cool down), but I was shaking afterward. My legs were like jelly. Yesterday (Tuesday) was no joke. I was so sore. More sore than when I started playing hockey again. I procrastinated shredding again because I knew it would hurt even more than Monday due to the soreness. I did it though- I wanted to cross off that day on the shred calendar I made.

I was about to cry while I was doing it. If I thought yesterday was bad from Monday's workout, I don't know what today is. At least twice as bad. My calves, hammies, quads- all burning. I dread getting up to pee... and with the amount of water I drink, I'm always getting up. AHHH. And to think, I get to shred tonight too! At least it goes quickly and felt shorter yesterday than I was thinking it would.
