Amy's Wedding Shower

One of my lovely former co-workers was married last weekend. On my last day at the old job, we had a wedding shower for Amy. I did a bunch of baking and made the cake.

The Food:
Engagement ring sugar cookies w/royal icing
Chocolate cake ball pops
Chocolate cake (with chocolate chips) with kahlua fudge mousse and homemade marshmallow fondant

Wedding Colors:
Purple & Silver

The kitchen table as I was decorating the sugar cookies. I definitely should have halved the recipe.

The cakes cooling on the counter.

The ring cookies after being iced. I used sprinkles for the shiny instead of dying the icing. They look a little like a 5 year got at them.

The cake.

Cookies on their tray at the office.

Cake ball pops.

The whole spread. Yum!

The cake with the topper that I made.

Drinks. Amy likes wine :)

Presents!

Our bride cutting her cake!

Congratulations Amy! I will miss working with you! You were a beautiful bride :)

Amanda's Shower

Amanda's shower was this past weekend. It was so much fun and I LOVED having an excuse to make a bunch of food (though it was WAY too much).

The entry table with the card & envelope guestbook and the recipe box was there as well.
The guestbook cards all had different sentence starters on them: "I predict that in ten years..." "On your first anniversary don't forget to...", etc.

The food table.

Veggie Pizza.

Turkey Enchilada Rollups (and a good view of the food label cards)

Chocolate covered strawberries.

Cake ball pops.

The cake. I made the cake topper :) The cake got a little dome-like. The bottom kept sliding out :(

Some veggies, dips, chips and bread.

The drinks in dispensers- lemonade and iced tea. We used these at the wedding.

Cutting the cake.

The inside of the cake. It was supposed to be blue & green- its more green and green..

The presents.

Amy (co-hosted with me!) had us play a game that involved sniffing spices to try and figure out what they were.
After the first one I had to quit because I got sneezy and couldn't smell anything anymore.

Amanda had to answer some questions about herself & hopefully Ben's answers matched. This one didn't...

Custom embroidered ribbon!

Checking out the recipes. Her mom gave her one of her grandma or great-grandma's original recipes.

The presents at the end!

The Menu:
Turkey Enchilada Rollups
Veggie Pizza
Cream Cheese & Salsa Dip
French Onion Dip
Onion Soup Dip
Tortilla Chips
Potato Chips
Dill Dip in a bread bowl
Cake Ball Pops
Chocolate covered Strawberries
Cake!

Amanda's Shower Invitations

I am going to be a co-matron of honor in my maid of honor, Amanda's, wedding this June. Yay!

Amy and I are holding a shower for Amanda, so I made the invitations for these. I mailed them out this week, so it is finally time to post them!

Of course, I don't want to put Amanda's info out there, especially without her permission.. so there are a lot of ugly privacy lines on these.. kind of ruins the effect, eh?

Amanda's wedding colors are a darker shade of blue and sage green. I found a sweet scrapbook paper that has the perfect colors.

I fed all of the envelopes through the printer since my handwriting isn't the best- this was an easy way to incorporate the fonts and theme from the inside, onto the envelope- sort of a preview of the inside.

Un-Naked Shower

Last weekend was my Maryland shower. It was at my maid of honor Amanda's house. She went all out- it was awesome. There were red balloons all over, red table cloths, tons of snacks that were all so yummy, and my favorite- a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting.

Yummmm..

My mom surprised me and came to the shower. Since it was in NY and she lives in MD, she would have had to fly down just for the weekend. She told me that she had decided not to come and that she was attending a baby shower for a family friend the next day. While she was telling me all of this, she was emailing Amanda and John's mom to make plans to come and surprise me.

My mom and I.

I got so much awesome stuff. Right now it is all in a giant present tower in John's apartment. I haven't decided the most efficient way to put away all of the stuff.

For some pictures:

Check out that fancy wrapping job! That is Amanda on my left.

Sweet- it is now even easier to eat in front of the TV!

This was a sweet basket. It came with a poem with blank spaces that were numbered. I had to find the gift that corresponded to that number & the product's name completed the sentence. (ie. "This is the beginning of a new Era...", "Your new roommate may be no Mr. Clean...")

Me with the contents of said basket.

Playing a "Get to Know Samantha" game.
Sweet new towels and a cheese-tastic face.

Apparently a super heavy cutting board.

A SWEET set of pots and pans from a friend's mom and dad (and Amanda's future in-laws).

There was much more and it was awesome. Everyone was so generous. Now for the thank you notes...
